You are about to enter one of the most sacred and biodiverse territories on the planet: the Amazon rainforest. Here, every step is an encounter with life in its purest form. To ensure your experience is fulfilling, safe and respectful of the environment, we share the following recommendations.
- Entry fee: Upon arrival in Leticia, you must pay an environmental entry tax to the municipality (approximately $50,000 COP).
- Yellow fever vaccine: It is recommended to receive it at least 15 days before travel.
- Light, protected luggage: Pack clothing and personal items in plastic bags to protect them from humidity. The rainforest is generous, but unpredictable.
- Flashlight with spare batteries.

- Small backpack for daily excursions.

- If you take medication, bring it along with the medical prescription, and notify our coordinators of any special condition or allergy before the trip.

- During canoeing, kayaking or fishing outings, avoid bringing electronic devices or jewelry. The rainforest is generous, but it does not protect what is left unattended.
- Shake out your shoes before wearing them. In the rainforest, every corner is someone's home.
- Recommended natural repellent: a mixture of NOPIQUEX soap, menthol alcohol and the tobacco from three cigarettes, left to steep for two days, then filtered and combined with Johnson's oil. Apply to clothing and skin as a natural shield.
- Leave no trace: Do not dispose of trash on trails or in reserves. If you bring something with you, carry it back out or dispose of it in designated locations.
- Responsible consumption: Avoid purchasing handicrafts made from parts of wild animals (feathers, fangs, skulls). Respect the life that flourishes here.
- Always explore the territory in the company of expert local guides. They are the living voice of the forest and best know the secrets of the river and the land.

What do we do for the culture and nature of our country?
Siempre Colombia is a travel and tourism organization that, for two decades, has focused its efforts, dreams and purpose on raising awareness, admiration and respect for the nature, culture and identity of the regions it visits, as well as promoting the development of local tourism ventures in the communities of Kilómetro 11, Yaguas, Mocagua and San Martín in the Colombian Amazon. The organization is also beginning outreach with several Wayúu settlements in La Guajira and Afro-Colombian communities on the Pacific coast.
Working with Local Communities
We support collaborative work programs with two indigenous communities in Colombia: the Tikuna people of the southern Amazon and the Wayúu people of the department of La Guajira.
Through traveler awareness programs, we promote appreciation, admiration and respect among travelers toward the communities visited, as well as a strengthened sense of identity and cultural pride among local hosts.
We support local ventures such as ancestral craft workshops, traditional gastronomy, ancestral ceremonies and rituals, environmental guidance and interpretation, accommodation in native hosts’ homes, community-run restaurants, among others.
A World to Transform Program
This is an initiative of Siempre Colombia and its partner suppliers and clients, through which we seek to directly support local communities with volunteer programs. Beyond living a life-changing experience, volunteers support and accompany children, young people, single mothers and elders in local communities, working across areas such as health, education, recreation, cultural appropriation and the development of community-based ventures.
How Do We Do It?
Through the design, marketing and operation of solidarity, nature, culture and education-based tourism programs for national and international visitors, whose main motivation is to live an authentic and spontaneous experience of interaction with the community visited — one where they can contribute from their own areas of knowledge while sharing daily life with local residents.
All of our programs are designed and operated around three core principles:

- Please note that the itinerary for our Amazon expedition may be subject to modification due to the region’s climate conditions. The Amazon experiences a rainy season and a dry season; however, factors such as climate change have caused variations in traditional weather patterns, affecting river levels and, at times, navigability.
- River transfers will be carried out in private boats and will always be accompanied by a specialized guide.

Is the mandatory medical form required for this wellness retreat?

Why are tour groups kept so small?
We limit our excursions to a maximum of 7 passengers per guide. Keeping groups small helps protect the quiet forest environment, reduces our ecological footprint, and ensures you have a quiet, personalized, and safe experience on the trails.
Are vaccination certificates required to enter the Amazon reserve?
